Abstract

Storytelling is fundamental to human experience. Through narration, we make meaning out of experience and live within the stories we create. In this layered account, I weave together my family story with a writing-story about the narration of lived experience. My family story conveys an image of my family as it has changed over time and invites the reader to experience my experience with the therapeutic process of story revision. In the writing-story, I explore some of the theoretical, methodological, and epistemological aspects of narrative. I conclude with a discussion of the dialectical relationship between living and telling.
